About Credit Union 1

Credit Union 1 is a member-owned financial cooperative that provides personal and business banking services across multiple locations. Its website serves as the digital front door for thousands of users looking to access banking services, locate branches, manage accounts, and explore financial tools and resources. Prior to this project, the site lacked modern content management flexibility, had accessibility issues, and offered limited support for features like events, calculators, and search personalization.

ProWorks led a discovery phase to evaluate Credit Union 1’s needs, followed by a full website rebuild using Umbraco CMS, with custom components, editor-friendly tools, and scalable infrastructure to support growth and digital engagement.

The Challenge

Credit Union 1 faced a range of digital hurdles that limited both user engagement and internal efficiency. The existing website had a disconnected, outdated design with poor mobile responsiveness, making it difficult for users to access services on the go.

Content management workflows were inconsistent and inflexible, leaving editors with minimal control over publishing. The platform lacked support for rich content types like blogs, events, and FAQs, and loan rate information had to be manually updated in multiple places, risking inconsistency.

Additionally, there were no built-in tools for accessibility compliance, personalized search, or branch/location discovery. Integrations with essential tools like Salesforce forms, third-party calculators, and live chat services were nonexistent, further reducing the site’s ability to serve members and prospects effectively.

Our Solution

ProWorks built a modern, scalable website using Umbraco CMS, giving Credit Union 1 complete control over page layouts through a component-based editing system. A centralized loan rates library streamlined updates, and role-based permissions improved content governance. Key features included a searchable branch locator, events calendar, blog, FAQs, and intelligent site search.

 

The site was designed to meet Section 508 accessibility standards and integrated third-party tools like Glia chat, Salesforce forms, and financial calculators. Additional scope included footer customization, rich text rate displays, an upgrade to Umbraco v13, and deployment to Umbraco Cloud with DevOps support.
